The IPA of Georgia was formed to give primary care physicians (PCP) the maximum voice and bargaining power for the mandatory Georgia Healthy Families Medicaid managed care initiative. In 2007 we turned our attention to Medicare.
Decisions for the IPA are made by the physician-owners. These decisions include compensation, capitation, marketing strategies and contracting options.
Our basic philosophy includes:
- Patients choose the provider, which will ultimately drive volume to our health plan(s) of choice
- We should negotiate the best rates as a group rather than as single physicians
- We should control or have a share of the most premium dollars as possible
We believe that together we can make a positive difference in both the quality of healthcare for our patients and reimbursement for our physicians.
